"Recently, at Sandy Gap Restorations, we had the honor of restoring an 18th-century flintlock rifle, a true piece of American history. The rifle arrived with heavily worn metal surfaces and a faded finish from centuries of exposure. Our expert craftsmen carefully prepared the barrel and fittings before applying a traditional plum brown patina, a finish prized for its warm, antique character. Using time-honored techniques, we achieved a rich, even patina that accentuated the rifle’s historic contours while preserving its authenticity. The completed restoration returned this flintlock to its former elegance, ensuring it remains a cherished heirloom for generations to come."

"At Sandy Gap Restorations, we recently completed a full restoration of a stunning Belgian Damascus double-barrel shotgun, a masterpiece of 19th-century craftsmanship. The shotgun arrived with faded Damascus patterns, a cracked walnut stock, and worn action components. Our restoration began with a meticulous hand-polishing process to reveal the breathtaking, swirling Damascus steel patterns, followed by a traditional browning treatment to protect and enhance the barrels' beauty. The stock was carefully repaired, refinished, and hand-checkered to restore its original elegance. We completed the restoration with a full action overhaul, ensuring smooth, reliable function while preserving every detail of its rich heritage. This classic shotgun now stands as a proud testament to history and craftsmanship."

This is the receiver of a 1894 Winchester that the owner was literally going to through in a trash barrel because it was in such bad condition.

This is a Belgian Damascus steel double barreled shotgun that we had the pleasure of repairing and restoring.

Take some time and view a few pictures of some of the restorations and repairs that we have completed.

A gun dealer that I do restoration work for convinced him to keep the rifle and let me see if we could make the necessary repair work to restore the rifle.

We spent countless hours working on the receiver to get to this point. Now we are at the rust bluing stage. Pay close attention to the reflection on the receiver. That's me and my phone taking the picture.
